Defensive line (6):

  • Grady Jarrett
  • Ta’Quon Graham
  • Anthony Rush
  • Marlon Davidson
  • Derrick Tangelo
  • Abdullah Anderson

When the Atlanta Falcons took on the Jaguars in their final preseason game there might not have been a position that shined more than the defensive line.

They were routinely beating their opponents and numerous fringe players made plays that will catch the eye of the decision-makers.

But first, let’s talk about the roster locks for this position. The three that will be on the roster are Grady Jarrett, Ta’Quon Graham, and Anthony Rush.

Grady is, well, Grady, one of the best at his position in the entire NFL, even after a down year.

Ta’Quon Graham is a breakout candidate, when he has had opportunities this preseason he has made splashes, especially against the Lions when he made his blocker look like a high schooler.

And then Anthony Rush who should be the primary nose tackle for Dean Pees. He was a surprise contributor for the Falcons last year, so now they will be counting on him.

Marlon Davidson’s job is not a lock. He has been a disappointing player to this point and he is dealing with an injury. If the team feels like another player deserves to be on this roster more, then Davidson is gone.

Finally, Derrick Tangelo and Abdullah Anderson were explosive against the Jaguars and might have earned themselves a spot on the roster just solely due to that game. Timmy Horne is another one to watch out for, possibly as a player who sends Marlon Davidson packing.
