Final prediction for the Atlanta Falcons final roster: Defense
Safeties (3):
- Richie Grant
- Jaylinn Hawkins
- Erik Harris
Having Teez Tabor around might allow the Atlanta Falcons to just roll with these three guys on the backend. It would enable them to keep around another player at a different position that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to, possibly someone like Jared Bernhardt or Justin Shaffer.
As for the three listed above, many are excited to see how Richie Grant plays in his second year. He has looked great throughout the offseason and preseason, and he will finally have a more defined role this year. As a rookie, he was asked to switch between safety and slot corner quite often.
Jaylinn Hawkins made some plays last season and the Falcons seem comfortable putting him as the starting strong safety. This is a big year for him because the organization will probably have a keen eye on him to see whether or not they have to address the position next offseason. Time for Hawkins to prove himself.
Then finally we have Erik Harris who started last season. That shouldn’t be the case come week one, but he is a quality backup behind the two young guys.
