We are approaching that time when we will find out which players for the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints will either suit up or not suit up in the first week of the 2022 NFL season.

Each side has numerous key players who are questionable for the heated NFC South rivalry in Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday.

A list of who could be held out of the matchup between the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints

Fortunately for them, the Atlanta Falcons are healthier than the New Orleans Saints. The Falcons only have two players who are questionable compared to the Saints who have three players who have been declared out, and four players who are questionable.

Here are the two players for the Atlanta Falcons:

  • WR – Drake London (knee) – questionable
  • CB – Darren Hall (quadricep) – questionable

Here are the seven players for the New Orleans Saints:

  • WR – Michael Thomas (hamstring) – questionable
  • S – J.T. Gray (hamstring) – questionable
  • T – Landon Young (hip) – questionable
  • S – Tyrann Mathieu (illness) – questionable
  • WR – Tre’Quan Smith (groin) – out
  • RB – Dwayne Washington (hamstring) – out
  • CB – Paulson Adebo (ankle) – out

There are some key names on both sides, for the Falcons Drake London, without a doubt, is the most important player. The offense simply needs him to make his debut on Sunday. Darren Hall is another key player, even with Dee Alford, as Hall has the experience and would likely be the go-to choice in the slot.

For the Saints, Michael Thomas, Tyrann Mathieu, and Paulson Adebo are the key players. Each one of them is an important starter for the team.

Since Tre’Quan Smith is not playing, they need Michael Thomas more than ever to pair up with their top rookie. It could be rough sledding for their passing offense if Thomas misses yet another game.

For Tyrann Mathieu, he was their big off-season addition, but he is no longer the Pro Bowl player that so many people were accustomed to. Whether he plays or not, it seems like he won’t be 100% due to an illness.

Each side has a couple of important injuries and in the next day or two we will find out who will and who won’t be playing.
