The Atlanta Falcons are heading into the 2022 season with an almost entirely new group of receivers with Russell Gage leaving in free agency and Calvin Ridley missing the season due to suspension.  First-round pick Drake London will be the number one option with nothing but question marks behind the rookie.

While Atlanta would have to be creative when it comes to opening up cap space the tandem of Drake London and Odell Beckham Jr. is far too enticing for the Falcons to not at least consider offering the veteran receiver a role. It appears Odell is going to wait to sign with a team until he is fully healthy and ready to take the field. This will likely be deep enough into the season that Atlanta knows whether they are competing for a top draft pick or the final wildcard spot.

Odell was huge in the Rams’ playoff run finishing each playoff game over 50-receiving yards and allowing Matthew Stafford to spread the ball around. Defenses may not be as afraid of Odell as they once were, however, he is still a great receiver with an elite ability to take a slant or out route and turn it into a house call.

If we are being completely honest the chances of Atlanta chasing Odell even if they become surprise wildcard contenders early this season are next to impossible. The Falcons view themselves as a year away from being able to make big impact additions and free agency and will turn their focus to developing the players on their roster.

While this is understandable there is an argument to be made the Odell could be a great veteran piece to build around. An offense led by Desmond Ridder with Kyle Pitts, Drake London, Cordarrelle Patterson, and Odell Beckham Jr. as the primary weapons has the chance to be a very dangerous team. While it may not be a great fit this season signing Odell now is about bringing in a player that will prove to be a bargain in the seasons to come.
