Whether the blame belongs on Kyle Pitts or Marcus Mariota for failing to get Atlanta’s playmaker the football is debatable. What isn’t is the fact that Pitts needed to play a bigger role in this game for the Falcons who featured Olamide Zaccheaus more prominently than they did their star tight-end.

Pitts finished the game with 2-catches for 19-yards in a game it was hard to tell he played. Both were forgettable catches for a player who has the chance to be a game wrecker. Whether it falls on the coaching staff failing to get Pitts the ball or simply his inability to get consistently open is something to watch closely in watching this game back.

The Falcons have three players who should be getting a high volume of targets and carries Kyle Pitts, Cordarrelle Patterson, and Drake London.  Two of those players stepped up on Sunday if Pitts had it is hard to imagine the Falcons completing the collapse and losing the game in the way that they did. Regardless, Atlanta must find a way to get Pitts involved early in week two against the Rams.
