The Atlanta Falcons kicked off their season in only the way Atlanta can taking a 16-point lead into the 4th quarter before completely collapsing. Poor coaching and refusing to go for a key 4th down resulted in yet another Atlanta Falcons collapse leaving fans little reason to believe this team is truly heading in the right direction.

It was the type of game Atlanta had become accustomed to under the former regime when any lead Atlanta had was simply wiped away in the final quarter. It was often as if the Falcons played for only three quarters.

Despite how this game may have ended there were positive signs for the Falcons in this game. The first and most obvious is the fact they had control of this game for the first three quarters against a team expected to be in playoff contention. This is a step forward for an Atlanta team that is expected to be competing for the first pick in next year’s draft.

The frustration at how the end of this game was handled is well deserved. However, it is only fair to point out that the Falcons were in a position no one expected them to be and put together positive tape against a superior roster. With this in mind, let’s take a look at three Falcons who did show up when Atlanta needed them most in week one.
