While a myriad of factors contributed to yet another Atlanta Falcons week two collapse the biggest culprit was the way the final quarter of last week’s game was coached. The Falcons coaching staff is now in their second season together and has to show they can make adjustments and learn both from last season and the mistakes of the previous coaching regime.

Arthur Smith has given fans reason for optimism leading the team to seven wins last season with a worse roster than the team has this season. However, it is only fair to note Atlanta did downgrade at the most important position on the field trading Matt Ryan and signing veteran Marcus Mariota.

Still, there is reason to believe the Falcons can take a step forward this season and be in a position to make a push to be serious contenders by next season. For this to happen, however, Arthur Smith and Deans Pees must learn from the terrible mistakes they both made in week one. Starting with Smith’s inability to make the tough decision late against the Saints.
