4 Atlanta Falcons that must find a way to step up in week two
By Nick Halden
2. Kyle Pitts
Are we sure that Kyle Pitts played on Sunday against the Saints? If not for the boxscore it is hard to remember the tight end having much of an impact on this game. Watching the tape back Kyle does stand out as a blocker throwing multiple impressive blocks and showing an increased urgency and ability as a blocker from last season.
While he deserves credit for this it isn’t the reason Kyle Pitts is on the field. He is a walking mismatch meant to be a game wrecker for Mariota and the Atlanta offense. Mariota and Pitts struggled to get on the same page on Sunday and if Atlanta has any hope against the Rams this has to change on Sunday.
Mariota and Arthur Smith need to schedule multiple plays early in Sunday’s game designed to put the football in Pitts’ hands and get him going and engaged early in this game. Cordarrelle Patterson and Drake London are already coming off of big games and taking momentum into week two Pitts should be the most important part of the early Atlanta offensive gameplan.
