3 Seattle Seahawks the Atlanta Falcons must slow down
2. Tyler Lockett
Since we discussed Metcalf, it’s more than appropriate to bring Tyler Lockett into the conversation. Like Metcalf, Lockett has zero touchdowns to start the 2022 season. At this point last year, already had three to his name. As alluded to earlier, the quarterback situation is a complete 180 of what it was last season. Yet, it doesn’t change the fact that this offense needs more of an aerial approach and this could be the week to do it. However, in four career games against Atlanta, zero touchdowns on 21 receptions.
Back in the 2019 season, Lockett had six catches for 100 receiving yards against Atlanta, proving he cannot be ignored. Overall, Smith has to find a way to get the ball in Lockett’s hand. Lockett has three straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons with Seattle and is the most experienced on the roster. The matchup of Lockett versus Hayward is one to watch because of the similar physical build.
Lockett is five-foot-10, 182 pounds but can still make plays down the field. Here, how can you keep Lockett from making the big play? Seattle is 28th in the league in passing yards, but they know this secondary can give up big plays. All in all, Lockett could have himself a day.
