4. Kyle Pitts

Let’s be clear here, this is in no way blaming Kyle Pitts for his lack of success through four games for Atlanta. His struggles are squarely on the shoulders of Marcus Mariota and Arthur Smith. Smith deserves a level of blame both due to sticking with Mariota and not designing more slants or screens to get Pitts involved early in the offense just as he did last week in Seattle.

Pitts got the offense going early and the offense thrived and Mariota had arguably his best game of the season. While the bar is understandably low for Mariota he surpassed his typical yardage totals and consistently had Pitts and Drake London involved and making plays.

Pitts is one of the most talented pass catchers in the league in the second year of his rookie contract and four games into the season the Falcons are wasting that talent. Whether it is changing the quarterback or simply calling consistent slants and screen plays that even Mariota can manage the Falcons have ot make a change and find ways to put the ball in the hands of their best pass catcher. If they can do that this offense has a chance to be one of the best in the leauge despite Marcus Mariota being the starting quarterback.
