The Atlanta Falcons have plenty of reason to believe they were robbed by Brady and the officials after scoring fifteen straight points to cut the lead 21-15 and Grady Jarrett sacked Brady to force a fourth down and give the Falcons a chance to complete the comeback. Only an invisible roughing-the-passer call was made giving Brady’s drive new life and ending Atlanta’s comeback attempt.

Falcons fans were far from the only ones up in arms on the terrible call with Twitter reacting harshly to a phantom call that gave Brady a victory.

It is hard to find any justification for the call whatsoever when you consider where Jarrett grabs Brady and the fact he took him to the ground with Brady’s weight initially landing on Jarrett. While there have been many egregious roughing-the-passer calls this easily has an argument as the worst over the last three seasons. The officials flagged Jarrett for doing his job and simply making a play on the ball.

It is hard to find a play that so many former players and journalists all are on the same page. Hits will be debated endlessly as to intent and whether or not they are dirty. It speaks volumes the number of people speaking out and all on the same page that Atlanta was completely robbed in this game. It is also noteworthy on the sack that Brady appears to attempt to kick Grady Jarrett as Jarrett is getting up and yet still ends up getting the flag.

If you needed further proof that the officials made a terrible call on a play in which Brady attempts to kick the opposing player for doing his job there is this:

This leaves out the penalty that was called on Atlanta the play before the deep ball that should have been a no-call in that situation. Or at the very least the very next play was a makeup call for the Falcons wiping away this argument completely. Even the most ardent Tampa Bay fan would have to admit that the officials handed them a questionable call that ended a game Atlanta deserved a chance to win.
