Atlanta Falcons week six rookie report
By Nick Halden
The impressive production from Atlanta Falcons rookies continued to be a story for a team whose draft class has easily been the best in recent memory. It isn’t just rookie receiver Drake London making plays but the class as a whole.
Drake London continued to be the Atlanta Falcons’ primary receiver and wasn’t shy about letting San Francisco know it on Sunday. While London totaled only 40-receiving yards he made a bigger impact than the stat sheet might suggest. The rookie receiver made clutch grabs while letting the 49ers know each time the offense made a play. It is an impressive edge for a rookie and speaks to the belief this team has in each other and the confidence London has in himself.
Tyler Allgeier continued to split carries with Caleb Huntley toting the ball 15-times for 51-yards in a solid week six. While the yards-per-carry might be down slightly it is important to remember the defensive front Allgeier was tasked with running against.
San Francisco knew Atlanta wanted to run the ball as well and often packed the box making Allgeier’s three-yard runs more impressive than the stats might suggest. He continues to be a great addition and a perfect fit for Atlanta’s run game.
Arnold Ebiketie is still searching for his elusive second sack of the season but has been a solid edge rusher and could develop into the pass rusher Atlanta is missing. The biggest rookie story on the Atlanta Falcons’ defense, however, was Troy Andersen. The linebacker finished the game with 6-tackles and a key play that helped result in an Atlanta defensive touchdown.
Every game that Troy’s snaps are increased so is the number of impressive tackles and big plays. Whether it is causing a fumble, making a nice open-field tackle, or blocking a punt he has a nose for the football and drive to chase the play that cannot be taught.
