Kaleb McGary – RT

Raise your hand if you thought two months ago that we would be talking about the Atlanta Falcons potentially signing right tackle Kaleb McGary to a long-term deal?

About 99.9% of fans are not raising their hands, as Kaleb McGary has taken a stunning leap in his fourth year in the NFL.

While McGary isn’t a top-tier pass blocker quite yet, he is still better than average and continues to improve, which is exactly what you want from your right tackle. He is also a pretty good run blocker which is perfect for Arthur Smith.

The Falcons declined McGary’s fifth-year option, so they were thinking along with the fans that this would be his last season in Atlanta but, to his credit, Kaleb has stepped up to make them think twice about that.

Having your two tackle positions under control for the next few years would be extremely valuable and help Terry Fontenot to be able to ignore that position while he tries to improve other areas of the roster.

If we can lock up these four players for the future, it will be huge for the continuity of the team and allow the front office to address other places on their search for a Super Bowl victory.
