3 Atlanta Falcons who let the team down in thrilling win over Panthers
By Nick Halden
Despite Atlanta’s best efforts against Carolina on Sunday, the Atlanta Falcons find themselves in first place in the NFC South after a 37-34 overtime win over the Panthers. After taking what looked to be a late commanding 34-28 lead with just seconds left on the clock the Falcons gave up a deep shot to D.J. Moore for what should have been a heartbreaking loss.
Emotions overcame Moore and in his celebration, he took his helmet off giving Atlanta the penalty and making the PAT a bit tougher setting up a miss and overtime. Atlanta won the toss and had a chance again to put Carolina away before a Mariota interception set up what should have been a game-winning field goal for the Panthers.
Instead, the chip shot missed and the Falcons were given a second chance to drive down the field and giving Koo the chance to put Atlanta atop the NFC South. While there is plenty to celebrate after the clutch win there is just as much to improve as the Falcons prepare for the Chargers starting with three Falcons who must be better.
