3 Reasons the Atlanta Falcons shouldn’t make a deadline move
By Nick Halden
1. No one Atlanta can acquire makes this team a real contender
The Atlanta Falcons are a team that is winning based on their rushing attack and the defense coming up with consistent turnovers and scoring plays despite being shredded. Atlanta is a team that is still a year away from having the cap space to build a contending roster dealing with over $70-million in dead cap.
This team isn’t one player away from having a real chance in the playoffs. This is an Atlanta team that is incapable of consistently passing the football or getting clutch stops with any consistency.
Watching Atlanta is fun in a way this team hasn’t been in four seasons, however, let’s not confuse that fun as any indication that there is actual hope in the playoffs for this squad if they manage to win a bad division. Atlanta must stay patient and keep the cap flexibility they will have next season continuing to be patient and evaluate the players they have on the current roster. Making a move is only on the table if Atlanta truly believes they can win this division and a playoff game something even the most ardent Atlanta fan knows deep down isn’t going to happen.
