3 Atlanta Falcons who must deliver against Los Angeles Chargers
By Nick Halden
2. Dean Pees
Dean Pees bears a large part of the responsibility for how the game against the Panthers went late last week in Atlanta. Despite having a large lead and only having to keep Carolina out of the endzone for mere seconds somehow the Panthers scored on the Atlanta defense and set up what should have been the game-winning PAT.
Dean could have simply put back nine men in front of the endzone and kept the ball in front of them one tackle likely would have ended this game on a deep play. The Panthers had around twenty seconds and zero timeouts making getting downfield and lined up for a play incredibly difficult.
Pees does have the valid excuse that his defense was without their two best corners and dealing with a myriad of secondary injuries, however, against P.J. Walker and the Carolina offense this defense should have played at a higher level and a part of that blames belongs to Dean Pees. Playing Justin Herbert and the Chargers this week Pees needs a massive upgrade in gameplan or the Falcons will quickly find themselves blown off the field in this matchup.
