1. Atlanta must control the clock with the running game

Obviously, this is a goal for every team heading into games, however, for Atlanta, this is their only path to victory. For the Falcons to win this game they are going to have to get the running game early and put together 10-12 play drives multiple times in this game. Atlanta must drain the clock and Huntley and Allgeier must continue to be the gameplan on offense while mixing in occasional throws to Pitts or London.

There is a chance as well that Cordarrelle Patterson returns in this game and gives Atlanta an impressive three-headed monster at the running back position. If that is the case you have to feel great about Patterson and Huntley getting the running game going for the Falcons and taking the pressure off of Mariota.

Atlanta has to limit Herbert’s touches considering the fact that their secondary has zero shot of stopping the young quarterback without their two starting corners. The Falcons need the run game they employed against the 49ers that is their only path to victory.
