The Atlanta Falcons had the ball after the Chicago Bears went three and out to open up the second half, and Marcus Mariota threw an accurate pass to Kyle Pitts over the middle.
Pitts completed the play by catching it and absorbing a hit, but not without penalty as he ended up leaving for the remainder of the game with a scary knee injury.
The Atlanta Falcons offense might have avoided disaster with Kyle Pitts
Kyle Pitts is a huge part of the Atlanta Falcons’ offense, yes, even if he isn’t putting up amazing stats this year. He provides a terrifying target for defenses to worry about on each play while also being a surprisingly good blocker this year.
Losing Pitts would be devastating for the Falcons’ offense. Kyle Pitts and Drake London are the difference makers for the passing game, not having one of them would not be good.

Kyle Pitts took a huge shot to his knees by a safety flying at him. It is easy to see why he didn’t return because you can expect the worst from a hit like this.

However, early indications are that Kyle Pitts has avoided any tears in the knee, which is good news, even if he still needs an MRI to confirm things.
Early indications are that Kyle Pitts did NOT tear any ligaments in his knee, sources tell @theScore.

An MRI in the morning will confirm, but the #Falcons remain optimistic about their star TE.
Who knows what his status will be short-term, but if the Falcons want any chance to go anywhere this season, Pitts must return soon. This offense may run the ball almost as much as anyone but the little passing they do is driven by the star tight end’s ability.
Not to mention, I don’t know anyone that would prefer to see MyCole Pruitt, Anthony Firkser, Parker Hesse, and Feleipe Franks (when he recovers from his injury) for the rest of the year. They aren’t exactly Kyle Pitts.
