There were questions leading up to the matchup of the Atlanta Falcons and Washington Commanders on if former second-overall pick Chase Young would make his first appearance of the season.

He was originally slated to make his return last week against the Houston Texans but that was delayed. Early reports this week were positive for Young as he had apparently had a strong week of practice but now he is listed on the Commanders’ inactive list due to another issue.

All help is appreciated, so we can be thankful that the Atlanta Falcons will avoid playing perhaps the Commanders’ most talented player, Chase Young.

Chase Young was the second-overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. He was regarded as a generational player but has struggled to even get on the field in recent times due to a major injury that occurred last season.

In week ten last year, Young suffered a season-ending ACL tear against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Then to start training camp this year, he was placed on the physically unable to perform list and has not been back on the field ever since week ten last season.

He has seemingly recovered enough from the knee injury to play but is now dealing with an illness that will keep him out of a pivotal matchup between the Falcons and Commanders. The Falcons certainly aren’t complaining as the Commanders already have enough talent on the defensive line even without Young.

Young did play the Falcons last season but did not have his best game as he only managed to record one quarterback hit and one tackle for loss.

It will be a hard-fought game as both of these teams try to keep pace in the NFC playoff race.
