The Atlanta Falcons headed into their late bye week with their second straight heartbreaking loss against a bad team. Washington and Pittsburgh both beat Atlanta despite giving the Falcons every chance to win. Atlanta’s perspective on the season and their goals moving forward should have changed completely.

For the Atlanta Falcons to have a realistic chance of claiming the division they would need to win three of their final four games with one of those wins being in the final week against Tampa Bay. The season is over for this team and their moves should reflect that fact as they turn their attention to evaluating their young players.

Atlanta might be only officially a game behind the Bucs but with two more losses and an easier schedule ahead for Tampa, it is hard to see even this Tampa team blowing that lead.

The Falcons had their chance to put the pressure on the Bucs against both the Commanders and the Steelers. Those two losses should change the perspective on the Atlanta season and leave three clear moves for Arthur Smith to make.
