1. Carolina Panthers

Carolina started the season with Matt Corral, Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, and P.J. Walker all as options at the quarterback position. It was rocky from the start for the Panthers with Corral suffering a season-ending injury after looking completely abysmal in camp and pre-season action. Corral gave the Panthers zero reason to believe they had found a backup option much less a franchise that has been lost since Cam Newton walked out the door the first time.

Baker started the season but struggled in an ugly offense and was jettisoned last week after being benched for P.J. Walker. Walker was later benched for Sam Darnold who may have won this week but has given zero reasons to believe he is a starting quarterback in this league.

This is a team without a head coach and without one clear answer at quarterback for the rest of the season much less beyond. It would be shocking not to see the Panthers move on from Walker and Darnold looking for their franchise quarterback in the draft or free agency. This is a team that has continued to squander a solid defense and D.J. Moore’s prime unable to find a head coach or a quarterback capable of allowing them to play respectable football.
