Unsuspecting Falcons player on PFF team of week & is rookie of week
The Atlanta Falcons have had one player who has dominated the Pro Football Focus rankings all year—Chris Lindstrom. However, in week 15, he took a step back from the spotlight and was replaced by one of the players that he helps block for.
Not only did this Falcons player make PFF’s team of the week, but he was also named the rookie of the week. It is a special honor for a player who was taken in the fifth round in April’s draft.
Falcons RB Tyler Allgeier named PFF rookie of the week and team of the week
The Atlanta Falcons came up short against their rivals and the last player you can blame is their rookie running back who is an absolute brute. Tyler Allgeier put the league on notice as he carried the ball 17 times for 139 yards and one touchdown. He averaged over eight yards per carry.
To make this even more impressive, it wasn’t like he had these huge holes to run through as only 39 of his yards came before contact (100 after contact), according to Pro Football Focus.
His performance landed him on the site’s team of the week as their running back. This put him on the same list that features players like Patrick Mahomes, A.J. Brown, George Kittle, and Trent Williams. Some elite company to be with. Then he was also mentioned to be the rookie of the week.
Currently, he ranks as their eighth-highest-graded running back. Cordarrelle Patterson is ranked at 12. Only the Green Bay Packers have two running backs ranked higher than the Falcons pair, coincidentally, Aaron Jones ranks one spot above Allgeier and A.J. Dillon ranks one spot above Patterson.
This seems to just be the start for the rookie running back out of BYU. He has improved each and every week and appears to be a player that the team can build around.
