The Atlanta Falcons season has been an incredibly inconsistent one with the Falcons starting the year out hot before collapsing completely down the stretch. Still, there was a sliver of hope for Atlanta in the playoff race for much of the season considering just how terrible this division has been, however, it appears it is now Tampa’s to lose even with their struggles this season. The Panthers and Saints are still in the division race though it is hard to see any team in this division having a chance to considering Tampa’s easy finish to the year.

Atlanta’s season should be adjusted to expectations that were clearly low for this team heading into the season. Early success reset expectations a bit too high before this team reminded everyone how far they still had to go and how little established talent they have to work with.

Apart from the win/loss record, Atlanta’s season has had a number of surprises some that fans will be happy to leave behind in 2022. With this in mind, let’s look at the three biggest surprises of the 2022 season so far and what it means for the Atlanta Falcons in 2023.
