The Atlanta Falcons season will come to an end on Sunday against Tom Brady’s NFC South champion Bucs. An ending that seemed inevitable at the start of the season wasn’t decided until the final two weeks of the season with Carolina and Tampa playing for the division.

This speaks both to how far the division has fallen as a whole and the struggles Tom Brady’s Bucs have had this season. While Atlanta’s season is over for this season the future for the majority of the NFC South doesn’t seem much brighter. Atlanta is set to have the most cap space and is arguably the most attractive landing spot with plenty of young weapons and an offensive-minded head coach.

Atlanta is going to be able to make a splash in free agency and will have yet another top-ten draft pick to attempt to engineer a turnaround and make a run at a weak NFC South next season. Even with slight improvement, there are three clear reasons Atlanta will be a 2023 NFC South contender.
