Atlanta Falcons fans should cheer on the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL playoffs

(5) Chargers @ (4) Jaguars on Saturday, January 16th, at 8:15 p.m. ET on NBC

At this time, one year ago, the Jacksonville Jaguars were evaluating who they should draft with their first-overall pick in the draft, now they are evaluating the Los Angeles Chargers team which they will host in the playoffs following their AFC South crown. They are proof that the Atlanta Falcons can go from worst to first in such little time.

But that is not the only reason you should pull for them because they have a lot of ties to the state of Georgia. Their franchise quarterback—who has been playing better than anyone recently—is a Cartersville High School legend, a Clemson legend, and now a Jaguars legend. Trevor Lawrence became an icon from the very first day he stepped onto that high school football field in Georgia.

He and his number one running back Travis Etienne, both attended nearby Clemson. The Jaguars’ number one overall pick, Travon Walker went to Georgia as well as their cornerback Tyson Campbell who has been a stud this year. Adam Gotsis, a defensive lineman, attended Georgia Tech.

You also cannot forget about Foye Oluokun, the former Falcon, who casually led the NFL in tackles for a second-consecutive year. In addition to him, they have Corey Peters who was drafted by Atlanta almost 13 years ago and spent five seasons with them.

I would dare say that is enough reason to cheer for Jacksonville Jaguars in the playoffs. It should be a fun postseason, even without the Falcons…
