Now that was an embarrassing loss by the Falcons’ NFC South division rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They were downright run over by a franchise whose last road playoff win was back when the game’s announcer, Troy Aikman, led them to a win in 1993. I guess it goes to show us just how bad the NFC South was this season—although, I guarantee the Falcons would have put up a better fight than that.

Speaking of the Falcons, their franchise legend, and perhaps their greatest player ever, was the best player on the field for Tampa Bay on Monday night.

Falcons icon Julio Jones was the Buccaneers’ best player in their blowout loss

Remember Julio Jones? Yeah, just a couple years ago the Falcons traded him to the Tennessee Titans in what turned out to be a robbery by Atlanta as Tennessee released him after an injury-plagued season. He was then eventually picked up by the Buccaneers where he has struggled, once again, to stay healthy.

While he has struggled to stay on the field, they always say that the best players show up in the biggest moment, and if anyone did for the Bucs, it was Julio Jones. He showed why he is one of the greatest players in NFL history.

Julio looked perhaps the best he has since he was with Atlanta. He was able to have an impact on the game, looked fast, and played for the majority of the game.

He ended the game with the second-most receiving yards for TB (third most in the game), averaged over ten yards per catch, and was responsible for the Bucs’ longest play which he scored on (still not fully convinced he didn’t bobble it after his knee was down but I can certainly see why the ruling stood). If there was anything good that came out of Tampa’s loss, it was that Julio can still impact a game.

It was a much different story for Tom Brady who played one of the worst games I have ever seen. He threw a boatload of passes and most of them looked like wounded ducks.

On a more somber note, we all hope that former Falcon Russell Gage will be okay. He reached for an inaccurate pass behind him while on his knees and then got his neck bent in a brutal way when the defender ran into him. He had to be stretchered off which is the last thing you want to see. Hopefully, he will be alright!
