Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith is entering his third season as Atlanta’s head coach and has given plenty of reason to believe he will turn Atlanta in the right direction despite two losing seasons. Smith has gone 14-20 in his first two seasons in Atlanta but hasn’t been on the hot seat due to the rosters he had to deal with.

Before this off-season, the Falcons were unable to make splashy moves or build a complete team due to the mistakes of the previous regime. Smith and Terry Fontenot opted for short-term pain over long-term gain and the ability to put this team in a position to succeed long-term.

This plan is obviously working with young players added to the roster to build around and vets (Grady Jarrett and Jake Matthews) locked up for the future. Smith coached this team into playoff contention in both of his seasons thus far despite playing with the inferior roster nearly every game day.  Smith is without question the right coach for Atlanta in 2023, however, there are clear issues the coach must improve as Atlanta makes a push to contend starting with how he has handled the quarterback situation.
