5. Desmond Ridder needs to improve his consistency on deep passes

There was a lot to be left desired with the Atlanta Falcons’ deep passing game in 2022. Despite numerous attempts each game, the Falcons failed to complete a ridiculous number of deep passes. Much of that was Marcus Mariota but Desmond Ridder did have his fair share of misses.

However, he also showed he can drop passes in a bucket and I like to point to his deep pass to Damiere Byrd against the Arizona Cardinals. The pass ended up being incomplete because of clear pass interference, but that throw was right in stride, right on the money.

He also had that deep pass to Drake London against Tampa Bay, Sure, it was underthrown but as long as it is complete, we can live with it. After all, an underthrown pass that is caught is much more valuable than a ball thrown ten yards over Arthur Smith’s head.

In conclusion, Ridder can become a franchise quarterback if he keeps improving on these things. He improved each game during the season, he just needs to do that same thing each week during the offseason, and if he does, then the Falcons are in good hands.
