2. Grady Jarrett’s $20.6 million projected cap hit

It is impossible to watch the Atlanta Falcons 2022 season back and not appreciate just how elite Grady was to start the season and continued to be. Jarrett started the season by getting consistent pressures and wreaking havoc making to game-winning sacks that set up desperation heaves that turned to game-sealing interceptions.

Jarrett followed this up with a great sack on Tom Brady that was flagged unfairly and helped to end the early season run Jarrett had of wrecking games. Jarrett’s effort or ability didn’t suddenly change as the season wore on what changed was teams realizing Grady was the only player to fear on the line. Whether it was double teams or running the play away from Jarrett opposing offenses simply needed to put their blocking focus on Jarrett and force someone else to beat them. The chances of that happening for the 2021 or 2022 Falcons is next to none. Jarrett needs help this off-season and has more than earned his spot as Atlanta’s second largest cap hit as a leader on defense and a player that sets the example of never changing his level of play no matter the score or the frustration going on around him.
