Just as we all thought, an 8-time Pro Bowl, 2-time All-Pro cornerback wants to play for the Atlanta Falcons.

Patrick Peterson is coming off of a great, revitalized year with the Minnesota Vikings and mentioned that he would love to play for the Falcons. It would be a great addition to a defense that needs all the help it can get.

One of this generation’s best CBs, Patrick Peterson, would love to play for the Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons have a lot of problems on their defense. They haven’t had a pass rush in countless years, outside of Rashaan Evans they had no consistency at linebacker, and their secondary was inconsistent due to injuries. But, perhaps, they could be looking at adding a big-name free agent.

Patrick Peterson, according to former NFL corner and current CBS Sports sports analyst Bryant McFadden, “would love” to join the Dirty Birds.

Bryant McFadden is very close with Patrick Peterson as the two host a podcast for CBS Sports called “All Things Covered.”

This whole thing is strange, to say the least. Why would a veteran player, who is coming off of a season where his team won 13 games, want to join a team that is coming off of back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back losing seasons?

Now, we are a little late on this development and people were predicting that his interest in the Falcons was driven by the rumors that they were going to hire Steve Wilks as defensive coordinator, who was Peterson’s head coach with the Cardinals in 2018. If that is the case, then we can put this to rest as Atlanta went a different direction by hiring Ryan Nielsen as their DC.

If this interest still stands then the Falcons should go after him, assuming they can get him for a reasonable price. He was great last year and would be a great leader for the defense. They may already have Casey Hayward but you can never have enough defensive backs. Atlanta has the money to pull this off.
