Atlanta Falcons shake up the first round with blockbuster trade in mock draft
By Nick Halden
Thanks to the deal with Green Bay in the first round the Falcons have the ability to get both Zay and Nolan Smith landing two players who would have a huge impact on the 2023 Atlanta Falcons. Smith isn’t the most polished pass rusher but considering what we have seen out of the Georgia Bulldogs defensive class over the last two years there is nothing wrong with the Falcons taking two former Georgia Bulldogs in their first four picks.
Smith is the best pass rusher left on the board and gives the Falcons a player they can develop and value due to the injury that kept him out at the end of the season. The first two rounds of this draft solidify the Atlanta secondary, fixes Atlanta’s lack of a deep threat, and brings in a pass rusher who could develop into a solid starter. Atlanta does this while adding a future first round pick and keeping their own picks in the latter portion of the draft. It is certainly an unorthodox start but one that is hard to argue against considering the value Atlanta adds moving forward.
