3. Atlanta is in the best position to improve this off-season

The Tampa Bay Bucs and New Orleans Saints are the two worst teams in the league when it comes to cap space. Neither team has a quarterback and both will lose key players to free agency. What is the argument for either the Saints or Bucs being a real contender in this division in the 2023 season?

Atlanta’s only threat should be the Carolina Panthers who will have the ability to open up cap space but will be dealing with dead cap hits and far less flexibility than Atlanta. The Falcons have the best young players, an offensive coach, and by far the most money to spend in the division.

While one could make a case for Carolina based off of their defense it simply isn’t enough. To overtake the Falcons this off-season the Panthers need to land a top quarterback either in the draft or through free agency. Neither seems very likely considering Carolina’s draft position.
