Free agents who could sign with the Falcons to reunite with Ryan Nielsen

The Falcons zeroed in on their new defensive coordinator following the retirement of Dean Pees. They hired their heated rival’s co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach, Ryan Nielsen.

As much as we hate the team that Ryan Nielsen came from (a team that shall not be mentioned (at least for the next paragraph)), we cannot ignore the fact that he will undoubtedly try to steal from his former team. While we have grown to dislike these players, what would be better than watching them flip to the good side?

Most of these players are free agents coming directly from New Orleans and considering how they are 32nd in cap space, you can only assume that the Falcons—who are second in cap space—will have a shot to sign them.

Without further ado, here are some free agents that could link back up with the Falcons’ new defensive coordinator.

1. David Onyemata, DT, New Orleans Saints

David Onyemata has been with the Saints since they drafted him in 2016, but it seems like that won’t be the case in a little over a month from now.

Onyemata, along with basically anyone, would be a welcomed addition to this dismal Falcons defensive line. He is 30 years old but is coming off of a solid season with five sacks. Spotrac has his market value at three years, $29 million. That seems a tad high, so don’t be surprised if they were able to land him for less than that.
