So far the Atlanta Falcons have been connected to Jimmy Garoppolo, Lamar Jackson, and Ryan Tannehill this off-season. All three quarterbacks have been connected to the Falcons from pure speculation with Atlanta unable to make any moves.

Lamar getting away from Baltimore would be shocking and Arthur Smith already had his chance with a former quarterback in Marcus Mariota. This leaves Jimmy G. who was connected to the Falcons less so this season but based on their interest in the quarterback last year.

After parting ways with Matt Ryan and thankfully failing to land Deshaun Watson the Falcons needed a bridge quarterback and Jimmy would have made a measure of sense. Now with the Falcons looking to make a push to contend, however, there is clearly zero fit for the free-agent quarterback in Atlanta.

Jimmy has proven his inability to lead a team in the playoffs and in clutch moments. The Falcons are looking to either develop Desmond Ridder or land a star quarterback not sign another bridge. Atlanta’s chances of winning games really doesn’t increase all that much with Garoppolo in comparison to Ridder or a capable cheaper backup.

Atlanta being connected to Jimmy appears to be more speculation based on their interest last season and less on any concrete facts. Arthur Smith and Terry Fontenot either need to swing big at the position or continue their current course letting Desmond Ridder develop and focus on building a complete roster.

Signing Jimmy will likely take far more cap space than signing a player like Jacoby Brissett or Andy Dalton who are just as capable when it comes to production. Jimmy has clearly benefitted from being in strong systems in New England and San Francisco. He isn’t capable of pushing a team to the playoffs and shouldn’t be a serious consideration for Atlanta this off-season.
