2. Sam Darnold

Sam Darnold finished the season strong for the Carolina Panthers putting together a great game against Tampa Bay and giving the Panthers a chance to steal the division. Darnold could get a chance to compete for a job or will be a prized backup option this off-season. One the Atlanta Falcons must avoid for a player who has proven he cannot be relied on with any consistency.

Adding a career backup or a player like Jacoby Brissett or Taylor Heinicke looking for a chance to start is the right move for the Falcons.  Darnold is a great talent but lacks the ability to quickly read opposing secondaries and make quick decisions.

Even when Darnold is at his best making quick reads and accurate throws there is a feeling of waiting for the other shoe to drop. Whether it is a fumble or a terrible interception Darnold has a way of creating turnovers in the worst moments even in his best games. Sam Darnold will go down as a draft bust who never was able to speed up his game and protect the football at the next level.
