3 Reasons the Atlanta Falcons should trade for Justin Fields
By Nick Halden
Lamar Jackson and the
have been connected in off-season speculation with nothing concrete to substantiate the possible fit. Jackson doesn’t make sense for the Falcons considering the cost of the trade and the contract Jackson would demand. The only reason Baltimore isn’t going to keep Lamar is if they deem his contract demands worth parting ways with a generational talent.
It is unlikely it will get that far, however, and Atlanta should be focused on Desmond Ridder or looking at other options. One potential fit could be Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields who has ties to Georgia and would make sense on a number of levels for the Falcons.
With the Bears sitting in a perfect draft position to pick a quarterback it is completely possible they pivot away from Fields and chase C.J. Stroud or Bryce Young. If that happens the Falcons shouldn’t hesitate to chase Fields and bring the third-year quarterback to Atlanta. The fit is obvious and would allow Atlanta two chances at finding a franchise quarterback this season without paying either player. Fields has faced questions about his ability to pass consistently but hasn’t been given the talent at pass catcher Atlanta can offer. The reasons to chase Fields if the quarterback is on the market demand Atlanta at least consider chasing the quarterback.
