1. The cost of the trade vs. the possible value of Fields

If the Chicago Bears move off of Justin Fields they are doing so at the worst possible time. Teams that are interested in Fields know that the Bears will be pushed to move the quarterback before the draft to get the best possible compensation and set up drafting whichever quarterback they deem to be the top prospect.

Trading for Fields isn’t going to cost the Falcons nearly what a deal to land Lamar Jackson would. A reasonable trade package would be a single first-round pick or multiple day two selections. It isn’t out of the question Atlanta could trade a player and a day-two pick for Fields either.

No matter what the trade package was it would be far less painful than what Atlanta would be forced to pay for Lamar. In exchange, you are getting an elite talent in Fields who would double Atlanta’s chances of finding a franchise quarterback this season.

In Arthur Smith’s system, Fields has the chance to be a top 10-15 quarterback if he can consistently hit the throws to Kyle Pitts and Drake London that Marcus Mariota was missing. This shouldn’t be a stretch considering Fields not only is the better scrambler but clearly has a better arm. His potential far outweighs the cost of landing a quarterback who could prove to be the future in Atlanta.
