3. The potential fit in Arthur Smith’s offense

Arthur Smith’s rushing attack with Justin Fields, Tyler Allgeier, and Cordarrelle Patterson would be unstoppable. Add in an improved passing game with more depth at receiver and an upgrade over Mariota and Atlanta would be in a position to take a huge step forward.

Smith’s offense was at its best this past season when teams didn’t realize they had to show Mariota zero respect as a passer.  The ability to run the read option and have London and Pitts opening up space allowed Atlanta to consistently move the football.

Desmond Ridder is solid at creating space and using his legs outside the pocket but isn’t close to the elite scrambler that Fields has proven himself to be.

The only issue with this fit is Fields must prove he can do what Mariota was unable to and deliver the ball consistently to Pitts and London when they are open to keep the defense honest. While the consistency wasn’t there in Chicago the talent clearly was for a player who would elevate Atlanta’s offense.
