2. Derek Carr

One would like to think the Atlanta Falcons front office is wise enough to build around Desmond Ridder and build a complete roster. However, this is the same front office that signed Marcus Mariota and made a terrible decision to chase Deshaun Watson willing to send their future for a quarterback that would spend the majority of the season suspended and lack a complete roster around him.

The point here being Atlanta hasn’t always approached the quarterback position in the expected way so it isn’t off the table the Falcons talk to Derek Carr.

Carr would win Atlanta a lot of regular season games with the current roster, however, there are zero reasons to believe Desmond Ridder cannot play at the level Carr does for a fraction of the cost. A cost that will keep Atlanta from building a complete team capable of carrying any average quarterback.

Atlanta’s only interest in quarterbacks this off-season should be if a top draft target falls their way or finding Desmond Ridder a reliable backup to learn from. Outside of these two situations Atlanta needs to ignore the position and focus on building a complete team. Signing Derek Carr is a move that would set the franchise back and very well could be the end of Arthur Smith’s time in Atlanta.
