The Atlanta Falcons have drafted well over the past two seasons as Terry Fontenot and Arthur Smith have put their own stamp on the team. Late-round draft picks like Avery Williams have been able to carve out a role on the team as Atlanta has improved their depth and found value late in the draft.

The only obvious whiff so far for Atlanta’s current front office was picking Jalen Mayfield in the third round of the 2021 draft. Outside of that, Atlanta’s draft picks have been able to stick with the team either showing promise or establishing themselves as a contributor.

Atlanta’s 2023 draft class should be more of the same with Atlanta holding a top-ten draft pick and continuing to use a best player-on the-board mentality. While this isn’t going to always result in the right decisions in the later rounds it has helped Atlanta hit on a number of picks over the last two years starting with what is clearly Fontenot’s best pick so far.
