With two months left until the Atlanta Falcons’ number is called there will be a lot of talk about what Atlanta could choose to do with the 8th overall pick. Whether it is adding a pass catcher for the third straight year to try to set Desmond Ridder up for success or adding a pass rusher a myriad of options are on the table.

Fixing the right tackle position, adding depth on the defensive line, or bringing in a player to pair with A.J. Terrell if the team cuts Casey Hayward are all options. Terry Fontenot and Arthur Smith have made it clear that they will target the best player on the board and their selection isn’t going to be predictable.

The first season Kyle Pitts was a slam dunk pick that Atlanta was expected to make. In their second season, Atlanta selected Drake London a far more shocking pick and one at the time that was questioned due to London’s injury history and the talent around him in the draft.

Two years later and it is clear Fontenot and Smith are two for two in the first round. Sitting with the 8th overall pick a lot of what happens for Atlanta will obviously be determined by the teams in front of them. Even if all the best options are off the board Atlanta should head into draft day unwilling to take three players in particular that could end their first-round success.
