2. Taylor Heinicke

Perhaps it is simply the playoff game against Tom Brady two years ago in which Heinicke was forced into action and made life tough on a great Bucs defense but it is hard not to pull for quarterback always seemingly in an underdog role. The way in which Heinicke handled being benched and was able to play at a high level when forced back into action speaks to the professionalism and the way Heinicke goes about his business.

If Ridder is injured or struggles and Atlanta needs to turn to a backup quarterback Brissett and Heinicke are the best two options. In this Atlanta offense Taylor is going to win games and clearly is a better quarterback than Marcus Mariota. Twice Atlanta has watched Taylor and seen what the quarterback is capable of at his best.

Heinicke also brings an ability to create with his feet and would be able to run read options and keep the same offense Atlanta has had in place for Mariota and will use for Desmond Ridder.
