3. Andy Dalton

Dalton isn’t the best fit for the Atlanta Falcons when it comes to running Smith’s offense if Ridder is taken out of the lineup. However, his vast experience both as a backup and starter and insight into the New Orleans offense could prove valuable for Ridder and the Falcons.

Andy Dalton isn’t going to be the reason you win football games, however, if forced into action he can put a good roster in the position to win. The upside of adding a player like Dalton is the patience it buys you with Desmond Ridder.

If Ridder has a bad game or struggles who is going to be calling for Andy Dalton to start? The flip side of that is if forced into action Dalton is a very capable passer and can win games in the right situation.

The one downside of Dalton’s game is the lack of ability as a scrambler at this point in his career. Smith’s offense would have to run the unit the way they did with Matt Ryan under center two years ago with the quarterback playing inside the pocket.
