There is a lot of money available for the Atlanta Falcons when free agency gets underway in mid-March, which is something we are not used to saying.

The Dirty Birds will have the second-most cap space in the NFL, trailing only the Chicago Bears—by a wide margin. Terry Fontenot will be put in the tough position of trying to be aggressive while not dooming the future of the team if things don’t work out.

This offseason will have a huge effect on whether the Falcons can get back to competing in the next couple of years. But, for now, we will look at four free agents that the Falcons will almost undoubtedly offer contracts to, starting with a familiar face on defense.

1. Rashaan Evans, LB, Atlanta Falcons

Rashaan Evans was signed (mostly thanks to Dean Pees) by the Falcons last offseason to a one-year deal that was the quintessential ‘prove-it deal.’

He did prove it to the Falcons as he was their only consistent off-ball linebacker. He was tasked to be the leader of the group and all he did was compile 159 tackles. It has been evident how much the coaches respect him; he was the fire for the defense.

It has already been rumored that the two sides have mutual interest—even after a change at defensive coordinator—so don’t be shocked if he ends up staying.
