Atlanta Falcons fans have watched a number of former fan favorites and impact players leave over the last three years. Arthur Smith and Terry Fontenot gave Atlanta a rebuild the team has needed since the end of the 2016 season. Atlanta made the playoffs the following year and hasn’t been back since unwilling to commit to a rebuild until Fontenot and Smith took over.

The approach this duo took has the Falcons in a position to make a playoff push in a rebuilding division with over $50 million in cap space and a top-ten draft pick. The Falcons have everything they need in a weak conference to make at least the wildcard round in the 2023 season.

Atlanta’s biggest question had been the quarterback position. However, after watching Desmond Ridder steadily improve through the final four games this team should be focused on building around the second-year quarterback.

While Atlanta is in a great position now it required parting ways with franchise players who defined Atlanta football. Players who weren’t as fortunate as they had been in Atlanta failing to make the expected impact at their next landing spots.
