After another disappointing Atlanta Falcons end to a season the Falcons are in a perfect position to make a playoff push with over $50 million in cap space and a top-ten draft pick. The Falcons can take advantage of a wide-open NFC and a division that has two teams in a terrible cap position and all four teams facing quarterback questions.

For Atlanta, anything other than making the playoffs during the 2023 season should be viewed as a failure and have Arthur Smith and possibly Terry Fontenot in the hot seat moving forward. Rather than this happening it seems far more likely the team will finally break the playoff drought and return to respectability.

Looking ahead at free agency and draft four easy but important questions stand out as the deciding factors in how Atlanta’s off-season will be viewed. The team is now facing pressure for the first time since Smith and Fontenot took over no longer with any cap excuses or bad contracts to get rid of. Atlanta needs a strong off-season and that should start with making the obvious decision at the most important position on the field.
