Matt Ryan will forever be an icon for the Atlanta Falcons franchise. He was the first quarterback in their history to bring sustained success—just go look at the team’s winning percentage through the years and it is obvious when Ryan arrived.

Last offseason, Ryan’s tenure with the team came to a quick end as he was traded to the Indianapolis Colts. We haven’t seen him back in Atlanta for a while but now we have proof that his allegiance is still with the city of Atlanta.

Matt Ryan did not have a good tenure with the Indianapolis Colts. While he is technically still a member of the team, he will almost undoubtedly be released. It was obvious that the move to a new city wasn’t as smooth as he expected and now he has been spotted back in Atlanta where he spent 14 seasons as the Falcons quarterback.

The Atlanta Hawks—of the NBA—posted this on their Twitter account during a game on Sunday against the Brooklyn Nets:

While this, in all likelihood, means absolutely nothing, we cannot continue without speculating or overreacting. From an outside perspective, he looks like a quarterback who will either want to return to the team who drafted him in the coming months, or retire and start his career in broadcasting.

If you are wondering how the game ended, the Hawks were tied with the Nets before Trae Young (who Matt Ryan’s son is representing) hit a basket with zeros on the game clock. Atlanta won 129 to 127.

This game couldn’t have ended without Ice Trae hitting a game-winning shot with Matty Ice in the building. It is too apropos.

Anyways, it is obvious that Matt Ryan is most comfortable in Atlanta. Could that mean he will return to play football here? Possibly, but time will be the only answer.
