The Atlanta Falcons front office has proven they are adept at finding bargain contracts in free agency and drafting well even in the later rounds. This off-season they will be faced with a new challenge due to the ability to spend big in free agency.

We know Terry Fontenot and Arthur Smith are elite at getting the most out of a bad roster and finding overlooked pieces. Now comes the time the duo must prove they can build a complete and contending roster without making the free agency mistakes of the past front office.

Atlanta has over $50 million in cap space and can easily bump this number up by cutting Marcus Mariota. Casey Hayward could be another potential cut as well considering his injury history and age.

The Falcons must approach free agency carefully willing to spend on impact free agents but choosing their targets carefully.  Looking at potential fits that could go awry three players stand out as options for Atlanta that would be a mistake to sign at this point in their respective careers.
