3 Quarterbacks the Atlanta Falcons could sign to compete with Ridder
By Nick Halden
2. Jacoby Brissett
Brissett is such a great backup and is just on the edge of being a reliable starting quarterback. Whether it is the situation or talent level Brissett always plays just well enough to stay in the lineup but not to keep starting jobs when given the chance.
Jacoby clearly outplayed Deshaun Watson in the 2022 season and would be a great option to compete and mentor Desmond Ridder. This is a slightly better fit for the Falcons both in cost and the fact fans are unlikely to call for Brissett the way they might for Wentz when Ridder struggles.
Even the best quarterbacks in the league have rough moments in their second season and Ridder isn’t going to be any exception. Having Brissett as a steadying force able to step in if needed is the best fit for this Atlanta Falcons team if they truly believe in Desmond Ridder. Brissett is a perfect fit for Arthur Smith’s system as well as a pass-first quarterback who is able to move his feet to create space and able to take anything the defense gives him.
