Tennessee Titans quarterback Logan Woodside (5) comes under pressure from Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Marlon Davidson (90) during the second quarter of a preseason game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium Friday, Aug. 13, 2021 in Atlanta, Ga.Gw50933 /

4. Logan Woodside

The Falcons brought in quarterback Logan Woodside after Marcus Mariota stepped away from the team unwilling to back up Desmond Ridder. While this is understandable and the Falcons did the best they could under pressure late in the season Woodside isn’t a great backup option behind Ridder.

Atlanta needs to bring in a veteran capable of helping Desmond while also presenting a starting option incase of injury or Ridder being unable to take the expected next step. For Woodside to stay on this roster the team would have to carry three quarterbacks something they did at times in Arthur Smith’s first season with the Falcons carrying Franks, Rosen, and Matt Ryan.

However, that was more about Smith’s belief in Franks as a utility player and less about carrying three quarterbacks. The team shouldn’t be expected to carry three quarterbacks making Woodside a likely cut and a potential practice squad option if he fails to land with a roster elsewhere.
